9 Must Watch Bitcoin & Cryptocurrency Documentaries

Bitcoin needs no introduction. The revolutionary internet money Bitcoin has seen dramatic ups and downs since its inception in 2008.

We all know Satoshi Nakamoto introduced us to the concept of Bitcoin. He showed us how censorship-resistant money can be built. He gave the world an option and opportunity to opt out of the traditional financial system and use an alternative system.

Since Satoshi’s launch of Bitcoin, the world of cryptocurrencies has evolved at a rapid pace. There are new currencies being introduced in this cryptosphere every day, claiming that they are better than the rather popular Bitcoin.

However, despite the big claims, none of them have been able to dethrone Bitcoin from being the king of the cryptosphere.

Also, with the introduction of more cryptos i.e. altcoins, space is becoming more confused and competitive. With every passing day, newbies are losing the sight of why Bitcoin was started in the first place. And why was it made so complex to not allow anyone to be able to take it down so easily?

That’s where numerous Bitcoin documentaries come to rescue. Such documentaries show them a bigger picture of the whole endeavor.

Documentaries being an excellent means of entertainment as well as information, convey the real message of Bitcoin i.e. Bitcoin is real money and it is more than money. It shows that Bitcoin is an amalgamation of Maths, Computer Science, Philosophy, and Economics.

Some Bitcoin documentaries that touched my heart are listed below. You will not just learn about Bitcoin, watching them will also explain reasons as to why it was started and how the traditional banking system works.

The blockchain is the new airplane of our time.

Bitcoin introduced to all of us what is today called as ‘the blockchain’. But how all of us responded to it was in a devastating variety of ways. Some call it as the rabbit hole that might lead to some more new discoveries, some believe. Still many don’t know what exactly it is but trying to learn from each other’s theories and real-life experiments.

This documentary is a must-see for people who are interested in knowing the early actions of Satoshi Nakamoto. In the film, Gavin Andresen talks about how he interacted and helped Satoshi Nakamoto and also how he got convinced, after reading the Bitcoin’s whitepaper, that the idea was a brilliant one. It also elucidates why Bitcoin is important i.e. because it is able to solve the double spending problem that other attempts at digital money creation had.

9. Banking On Bitcoin

It introduces you to what actually money is. It tells you that money is simply an accounting system. Nothing happens after that and the system just becomes a fraud, non-functional, ineffective and corrupt. That’s why this documentary lauds Bitcoin as the only honest money free from tampering and corruption.
