DCA (Dollar-cost averaging) is an investment strategy that adds discipline to your journey as an investor. In my 9 years of investing journey, DCA strategy has helped me the most to stay sane, ride out market downturns, and reduce risks. Especially if you find yourself FOMO-ing frequently or buying crypto at the top, DCA is one strategy that you should follow.

Note: DCA strategy is also well known as SIP (systematic investment plan) in various regions.

Here is a simple example of DCA:

Suppose, you wish to buy Bitcoin worth $10000. Instead of investing $10000 to buy BTC at once, you decide to buy worth $500 every day at 10 A.M. for the next 20 days. Irrespective of the price of Bitcoin, you execute this strategy of buying every day at a defined time.

Since the idea here is to accumulate for the long term, instead of giving into FOMO, you basically added discipline to your accumulation.

DCA bot 🤖 for Crypto traders –

The above example was for long-term investors. It will work good for projects which you wish to accumulate and do not wish to sell for years. However, since cryptocurrencies are acting like tech stocks, you as a trader can approach DCA bot in a different manner. With automated DCA bots, you can not only accumulate cryptocurrencies, but you can automatically sell when the price appreciate to your target. I will be talking about such bots in this guide as well.

Here are some of the notable benefits of the DCA strategy:

  • Reduces the risk
  • Lower cost of purchase
  • Disciplined saving
  • Prevent bad timing

There are more benefits of the DCA investing strategy that I will cover in a separate guide. For now, I am assuming that you understand DCA and are looking for DCA bots and apps to help you automate this strategy.

Note: There are simple DCA bots for long-term investors such as Bybit or Binance. At the same time, traders or short-term investors often prefer 3rd party tools like Bitsgap, 3Commas, or Coinrule.

If this is true, continue reading to discover the best DCA bots in the crypto market.

Best DCA Bots and Apps to Use in 2023 for Crypto Investors

1. Bybit – Crypto DCA Bot (For Long term Investors)

Eventually, it is an exchange that you use to accumulate a coin, and if you are looking for something reliable and free, you will like Bybit. Bybit is a well-known crypto exchange, and they have become very popular in recent time.

Bybit offers various crypto trading tools, and one of them is Bybit DCA bot. Using this bot, you can start accumulating any crypto (which are available on Bybit), in a standard DCA fashion.

With Bybit DCA strategy, you can automate the buying of 5 cryptocurrencies with one click.

Here is how you can get started with DCA bot on Bybit:

  • Create an account on Bybit
  • Buy USDT using fiat, or simply transfer crypto from your wallet to Bybit wallet
  • Go to Tools > Trading bot and select DCA bot

Now, on the setting page you can configure following settings –

  • Select crypto which you want to accumulate using DCA method
  • Select the amount that you wish to buy in every SIP
  • Set frequency

That’s it. Now, once you click on “Create new” and confirm, the bot will start buying crypto automatically as per your settings.

The first buy will be instant, and you can always check your bot performance:

You can anytime terminate your Bybit (Refer to above screenshot above).

Honestly, I found Bybit DCA bot to be too simple, and they could have done way more. For example, they could add feature to take profit, and buy more in dips. This will help you accumulate more in quantity if the market dips. There should also be a pause feature, which they don’t have.

However, worry not as I have shared some 3rd party tools below that let you run advanced DCA bots on Bybit or other exchanges. For now, if you are just getting started as a crypto investor, and looking for something simple, Bybit DCA bot has got you covered.

2. Binance DCA Bot – Spot Market

Let’s start this DCA bots list with Binance, which is the world’s most popular crypto exchange. I have shared a detailed review of Binance here. If you have not yet used Binance, you are missing out on the best crypto tools. Use the link below to create an instant account on Binance

Binance has recently added a new feature called “Spot DCA bot” that will let you accumulate crypto in auto-pilot mode.

Here is how you can use the Binance Auto-invest feature:

You can access this feature under Tradde > Trading bots > DCA bot

Step 1 – Choose the crypto you want to start a DCA bot on
Step 2 – From the right side, set the DCA bot parameter. I will do a detailed video in the coming days.
Step 3 – Set your profit taking and let the Binance DCA bot do its magic.

Binance is available everywhere across the globe, excluding the USA, UK, Singapore, and a few other sanctioned countries. If you are from one of these countries, worry not as the next DCA bot on this list is a perfect match for you.

Notes:

  • We can access this feature from both Binance mobile app and desktop.
  • You can configure the DCA bot to use the funds in your Binance saving account.

For those who currently use Binance and want to use the DCA feature, its better to use Binance directly than using anything else.

3. 3Commas DCA bot – For Traders

3Commas DCA bot

If my memory serves me right, it was 3Commas that made the concept of DCA buying popular among crypto investors and traders. They offered many advanced settings that are loved by the entire crypto community.

3Commas is an independent crypto trading tool that offers many advanced features like DCA bot, Grid bot, and Smart trade to name a few. Anyone who is serious about automated crypto trading should check out 3Commas. You can read my earlier review of 3Commas to learn more about them.

There are some of the features which make 3Commas DCA bot stand out from its peers, and here are those:

  • Copy the DCA bot settings of popular and profitable traders
  • Select from various bot start conditions such as QFL, CQS scalping, RSI, or even bring your Trading view indicators.
  • Set bot to take profit automatically
  • Pause or terminate bot anytime.
  • Use mobile app to monitor your bot performance
  • Supports various popular exchanges such as Binance, Bybit to name a few.
  • Set stop loss or set condition for your bot to auto terminate.
  • Reinvest percentage of your profit

I can go on with many more features, but if you are looking for something robust that gives you complete control, you should try 3Commas DCA bot. Even if it is your first time using such a bot, with 3Commas helpful guides, you will level up your knowledge to a great extent.

Here is one live bot from 3Commas DCA bot

If you want me to do a detailed tutorial on 3Commas DCA bot, simply comment and let me know.

4. Bitsgap – Advanced DCA bot

Bitsgap is a multipurpose quant tool for crypto traders and investors. I have talked about Bitsgap earlier in my review of Bitsgap. You should read it if you have missed it.

The basic feature of the Bitsgap DCA bot is the same as most of the other DCA bots listed here. What I find exciting is the feature to initiate the DCA bots based on various signals.

Here are the detailed explanation of upcoming DCA bot features by Bitsgap:

  • MACD+RSI – A one-click strategy with the two most popular indicators for the ‘trend is your friend’ kind of trading. The bot will attempt to jump in a trend and follow it until receiving a closing signal from the same indicators or from the risk safeguards.
  • Stochastic+Channel – Also a one-click strategy with the combination of support/resistance lines and Stochastic oscillator for the sideways market. The bot will repeatedly trade by the signal while staying inside the channel and just HODL and use Trailing Stop once the price breaks outside.
  • Pure DCA: A quick launcher for the DCA-only strategy that will buy by market, place limit orders to buy cheaper, take profit, and repeat. The lower is the order, the larger is the size, so the break-even price is dragged closer. As long as the crypto market moves in phases, this strategy may work surprisingly well in the long run.
  • Custom DCA: Create your own trading strategy using all available signal sources, DCA settings, risk management tools and additional bells and whistles. See detailed calculations of everything before starting a bot. Save and load templates and much more

5. Coinrule (For Advanced Users)

Coinrule is a more powerful bot than any other DCA bot. You can set multiple rules to accumulate a coin of your choice using the DCA strategy.

Coinrule is an automated trading bot creation platform that lets you set automated rules for trading or investing. For example, here is how you can set a time-based DCA bot:

You can also set different rules. For example, buy only when the price threshold is below a certain value or a certain technical indicator gives a buy signal. Here I’m configuring a BTC DCA bot to buy only when RSI is below 30 in daily time frame.

Like this, you can configure different rules for your bot. For example, you can also configure the bot to book partial profit and buy back when the price is low. This way, you would accumulate more than the usual DCA bot.

To use Coinrule DCA Bot, you need to connect it to your preferred crypto exchange using an API key and configure the bot. Unlike Binance and Pionex, it costs a nominal fee.

Coinrule gives more control and advanced offerings to set up your DCA bot.

6. Pionex DCA Bot

Pionex is a crypto exchange that offers automated trading features. It has over 16 different bots of which DCA is a popular one. Pionex has a fully-functional mobile app and desktop version. If you are new to Pionex, read my earlier review of Pionex.

Once you have funded your Pionex account, select the pair for which you want to start the DCA bot.

On the web interface, from the right side select the Dollar-cost averaging (DCA) bot and start configuration.

Once you are ready, click on the Start button.

Pionex offers many bots like the Martingale bot that automatically buys low and sells high. Another one called Grid bot helps you make money in the sideways market.

For anyone who is interested in the DCA bot and doesn’t mind using exchanges other than the popular crypto exchanges, Pionex is an ideal solution.

7. Crypto.com DCA Bot

Crypto.com is a popular crypto exchange, which now offers a DCA bot. It offers two type of DCA bots:

  • Automated Bot
  • Manual Bot

Some of the features which make the Crypto.com DCA bot worth featuring are:

  • Set stop loss
  • Set DCA frequency
  • Set take profit

Here is a video that explains how to setup a DCA bot on the Crypto.com platform:

Best DCA Bots for Bitcoin and Crypto

Of course, there are multiple DCA bots available in the market right now but the ones mentioned above cover almost all the DCA bots that you may need. You can use a simple DCA bot like offered by Bybit or Binance. If you looking for something super advanced, use Bitsgap or Coinrule.

Here are a few FAQ’s related to DCA bots and strategies –

What is the meaning of DCA in crypto?

DCA stands for Dollar-Cost Averaging, which is an investment strategy commonly used in the crypto market.
Dollar-Cost Averaging involves investing a fixed amount of money into a particular cryptocurrency at regular intervals, regardless of the current price of the asset. By investing the same amount of money on a regular basis, investors can buy more units of the cryptocurrency when prices are low and fewer units when prices are high.
Overall, DCA is a popular strategy among cryptocurrency investors who are looking to build a long-term position in a particular asset while minimizing their exposure to short-term price fluctuations.

What are the costs associated with using a crypto DCA bot?

The cost associated with crypto DCA bot depends on what provider you are using. If you are using a crypto exchange DCA bot like Bybit or Binance, there are no fees apart from trading fees (if any). If you are in need for advanced DCA bots, then you will be looking at 3Commas or Bitsgap, and they charge a monthly fees starting from $14/month.

What is the minimum investment required to use a crypto DCA bot?

Again it is different for different service provider. For example, on Bybit, you an start with as low as $1.

Are crypto DCA bots safe?

Crypto DCA bots can be safe if they are properly secured and have appropriate security measures in place. If you are talking about making profit from DCA bot, it all depends on which instrument you are selecting, and what configuration you are using.

Grid bot Vs. DCA bot – Which is better?

Grid bot and DCA bot are two different types of crypto trading bots, and each has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Grid bots are designed to take advantage of sideways markets by placing buy and sell orders at set intervals, creating a grid of orders that aims to capture small profits as the market moves back and forth within a certain range. Grid bots can be an effective strategy for trading in a sideways market.
DCA bots, on the other hand, are designed to help investors build a long-term position in a particular asset using the Dollar-Cost Averaging strategy.
In terms of trading, DCA bot helps to utilise the entire funds, where as grid bot utilises the portion of your funds. Again, both the strategies are good, and it all depends upon instrument you are picking, and the market conditions. As an investor or trader, you should master both the techniques, and use as per current scenario.

Now it is your turn to share your strategy of DCA accumulation. How are you executing it? Are you manually buying it or are you using a bot to execute the DCA strategy? Let me know in the comment section below.
