  • Do you know some blockchains are hard to kill?

One such blockchain that has faced all odds and continued to survive is Ethereum Classic. For those of you who don’t know about Ethereum Classic (aka ETC), here is a little something for you to read.

Ethereum Classic is a hard fork of Ethereum. The majority of the Ethereum community at the time of DAO hack supported the hard fork of Ethereum chain. But a minority of users were against the hard fork, so they continued on the old blockchain and called themselves “Ethereum Classic”. Ethereum Classic’s blockchain is the same in every way with Ethereum’s until Block 192000, where the hard fork was applied.

But now that it has survived the test of time, it is important to keep it safe in secure wallets that have developed over a period of time.

Also, ETC was like free money that was airdropped due to the hard fork so most of the investors are still holding ETC and waiting for its “To The Moon” moment.

Best Hardware and online wallets for Ethereum Classic (ETC)

1. Ledger Nano X

Ledger Nano X

Ledger Nano X is the best hardware wallet one can ask for right now.

It is developed and maintained by a French start-up, which also justifies its sleek design. All the basic USPs that you want in a secure wallet are available in Ledger Nano X, some of which are:

  • OLED Screen with physical buttons
  • Backup seed Keys & PIN code feature
  • Offline private keys
  • Кошелек HD
  • Passphrase feature
  • Usable in infected computers
  • Multi-coin support [over 5500 assets Including ETC]

Ledger was one of the first wallets to support the Ethereum Classic fork as soon as it was out. You can still store your ETC on Ledger Nano X safely.

Harsh has made a few video guides about Ledger wallet that you must check out. This will help you learn more about Ledger Nano X.

2. Trezor

Trezor wallet

Trezor, the very first hardware wallet in the crypto space, has earned quite a huge fan following. And it does not come as a surprise considering it is the pioneer that supports multiple currencies with all the necessary features one can ask for. Some of those features are:

  • OLED Screen
  • Backup seed Keys & PIN code feature
  • Offline private keys
  • Passphrase feature
  • Кошелек HD
  • Usable in infected computers
  • Multi-coin support [over 7 Currencies Including ETC]

Trezor can be used with apps such as TREZOR Wallet, Mycelium, and Multibit HD.

It is now available for Windows (version 7 and higher), OS X (version 10.8 and higher), and Linux. You can also use it on your Android devices.

It is available in 3 colors – white, gray, and black – and costs $99.

Here is a video tutorial series on how to start using Trezor by our CEO Harsh Agrawal.

3. Guarda ETC Wallet

Are you in the market for a wallet to store your Ethereum Classic (ETC)? Then the Guarda wallet might come in handy. Guarda supports more than 40 blockchain platforms and over 10,000 tokens. Guarda wallet is available on mobile, desktop, and on the web. There’s also a browser extension for chrome lovers to buy and sell inside their browsers.

Imagine the trouble when you want to move all your crypto assets to a new wallet. Guarda makes the process simple. Its “import” feature allows you to move your ETC or other coins from your old wallet without difficulty. Guarda is also integrated with bank cards.

With a Guarda wallet, your private keys are stored on your device, giving you full control of your assets. While it may be a little difficult to keep your own crypto key if you’re not family with this space, it’s worth the effort.

Guarda is completely free to download and use. And available on your favorite device, be it on the desktop, mobile, web or as a Google Chrome extension.

4. Coinomi

ETC-Coinomi

Coinomi is another reliable wallet based out of the UK which has earned a lot of respect in this space, especially for supporting forked coins. (Ignore some minor hype stories around this wallet)

It is a popular multi-currency HD wallet that supports a plethora of cryptos, including Ethereum Classic and Ethereum Classic tokens.

On Coinomi, private keys never leave the device, and features like seed keys enable you to restore your funds whenever required.

Another feature that I believe makes this wallet unique is its inbuilt coin exchange integration with both Changelly, which I haven’t seen in any other wallet.

It is available for Android and iOS on mobile. The desktop version is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux.

5. Trust Wallet [Mobile Wallet]

Trust wallet is another multi-currency wallet for ETC users but this wallet doesn’t support Bitcoin.

Trust wallet - это кошелек для токенов Ethereum и токенов ERC20 и ERC223 на базе Ethereum. В этом кошельке ваш приватный ключ хранится только локально и защищен множеством уровней безопасности.

Using this wallet send, receive, store and track Ethereum (ETH), Ethereum Classic (ETC), Callisto (CLO), and over 30,000 supported ERC20 tokens, including EOS, OmiseGO, Qtum, Kyber Network, EOS, BAT, TenXPay and Augur.

Trust wallet также действует как Web3 Browser, который позволяет взаимодействовать с децентрализованными приложениями (DApp) прямо из приложения.

Top 6 Ethereum Classic Wallets

But I am very sure as the technology matures, new Ethereum Classic/ETC wallets will be available for each type of user. Be on the lookout for exciting Ethereum Classic news!

I hope this list of Ethereum Classic wallets will help you make the right decision when choosing where to store your Ether Classic tokens.
