If you are someone who enjoys being in the cryptoland and also like buying and HODLing cryptos, we may have a lot in common to talk about.

2024 Update:

Bittrex global announced that they are going to shut down and urged it’s users to withdraw all assets. You can migrate your assets to a private wallet or use an Bittrex alternative exchange to start trading and investing.

Here is the official announcement

I am loving every bit of my existence in the cryptosphere. Not just that, I love exploring and reading about it and also sharing it with the readers of CoinSutra. Our mission is to help simplify terms like Bitcoins and cryptocurrencies for you. And thus far, we have been able to help many of our community members to get started in the crypto world.

However, to trade in cryptos, one needs to be registered on an exchange. And when the crypto market recently saw a bull run, many popular exchanges like Bittrex halted their new registrations that stopped many investors around the world from buying their favorite cryptocurrencies.

The situation may have passed but the same thing may happen in the future when the interest in cryptocurrencies rises again.

That is why we thought of it as a perfect opportunity to list down some of the best Bittrex alternatives so you know where to go if you are stuck in a situation where you are barred from registering on Bittrex due to high demands.

Websites/Exchanges Similar To Bittrex

1. Binance – #1 Bittrex Alternative

Binance Crypto Exchange

I have talked about Binance more than any other exchange I believe. And that is because it is truly the best at the moment. (Read about our detailed Binance review here.)

It started in China in mid-2017 after its successful ICO and just in a matter of months, overtook many big exchanges like Bittrex, Bitfinex, and Poloniex in volume and usability.

Also, during the recent surge in demand of cryptos, it was one of the last to halt registrations and re-opened soon after upgrading its infrastructure.

To add to this, they have wonderful apps for Android and iOS users which help in trading on the go as well as a discounted fee feature if you use their BNB native tokens to pay for the trading fees.

At the point of writing this article, Binance has the highest volume in the cryptosphere and lists more than 200 cryptocurrency trading pairs.

2. KuCoin

KuCoin Crypto Exchange

KuCoin is very similar to Binance and is also a brilliant exchange to trade some real gems like RPX, DRGN, NEBL etc.

They also have their native cryptocurrency called KuCoin Shares (KCS) which you can hold to receive daily dividends. (I will talk about this incentive in an another dedicated article).

The best part is, KuCoin didn’t halt registrations during the recent crypto surge and is still accepting new registrations.

I like KuCoin because of its neat interface and its mobile apps that give you the freedom to make trading decisions on the go.

At the point of writing this article, KuCoin is in top 20 exchanges by volume and has more than 150 cryptocurrency trading pairs.

3. Bitfinex

Bitfinex Crypto Exchange

Bitfinex is another exchange that you can use in case of exchanges like Bittrex halt registrations.

Bitfinex has a low number of coins to ensure the safety and security standards of the exchange. Similar to KuCoin and Binance, they didn’t have any ICO which explains why they have limited resources and reach.

They also have mobile apps for users who want to trade on the go. Using the app, you can trade cryptocurrencies and deposit funds to your Bitfinex account. Some of the popularly traded cryptocurrency on Bitfinex are Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, IOTA, Monero, ZEC, DASH, OMG, NEO, QTUM, and many others. (Download Bitfinex Android app | Download Bitfinex iOS app)

I will rank it below Binance and KuCoin only because of its recent controversy on USTD issue and a low number of coins.

4. HTX

HTX Crypto Exchange

HTX is a popular international cryptocurrency exchange based out of Singapore. And it is operating in this space since 2013 and currently, as we speak is the 3rd busiest crypto exchange in the world.

The good part is, you will find some of the well-known currencies like BTC, BCH XMR, ETH, DASH, ETC easily plus it is home to some really unknown small and medium cap gems which you will hardly find anywhere.

So because of this nature of the exchange, you will never find any liquidity problems here plus the HTX team is continuously expanding its reach around the globe to serve crypto investors.

They also have mobile apps for both Android & iOS for users who want to trade cryptos on the go!!

Their registration process is also pretty quick and easy. So go ahead and get your hands dirty with this exchange as the exchange fees are also pretty low.

5. CEX ( Popular but with limited coins)

CEX Crypto Exchange

CEX is a UK-based exchange that supports buying/selling of few cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold, Ethereum, Zcash, Dash etc. CEX has earned a lot of respect in the cryptocurrency space ever since it started operating in 2013.

It also supports the instant purchase of cryptocurrencies via Visa/MasterCard credit and debit cards if you have a verified account. (Read our CEX review)

They also have a mobile app with a neat UI for its users that allows to deposit and withdraw funds on the go! ( Download CEX Android app | Download CEX iOS app )

6. Gate.io

Gate.io Crypto Exchange

Gate.io is another exchange with immense potential and has many cryptocurrencies listed on it with an easy to navigate UI. Their volume is also pretty decent in comparison to its competition.

At the time of writing, Gate.io has over 200 crypto coins/pairs listed on it and boasts of a volume of more than 12000 BTC.

If you ever facing issues due to registrations being halted, you can use this exchange to buy cryptocurrencies because they are still in the top 25 exchanges in terms of liquidity.

Conclusion: Best Alternatives to Bittrex Exchange

I think we have already spoken about these exchange innumerable times on our blog and helped you understand the positive and negative aspects of each one of them.

Without making a decision on your behalf as to which exchange you should use, I will give you a tip which will help you trade safely.

It is always a good practice to consciously take steps to reduce your risk while trading in cryptocurrencies. Irrespective of which exchange you use, make sure you keep in mind the following:

  • Use 2-FA authentication
  • Use strong, different and hard to guess passwords for all sites
  • Diversify not only your cryptos but your exchanges too
  • Do not use any exchange wallet as a permanent wallet

That’s it for today. I will be back with another interesting, informative article soon. If you know of other reliable Bittrex alternative, do let me know in the comment section below.

It is also worth noting that Bitfinex is not open to US residents. It was the second exchange I tried to join (after Coinbase), and was disappointed that it chose not to cater to US customers. So, I went with Bittrex, and then through your recommendation and the feedback from others, I joined Binance. I really love their interface and the fact that they have a great mobile app…just wish their iPhone app had an iPad version.
