Where can you buy XRP?
There are many places from where you can get XRP.
The best way is to buy Bitcoin & exchange them for Ripple.

- Changelly is a popular website to exchange BTC (or other cryptocurrencies) for XRP. Personally, I’m a big fan of Changelly.
- Another method is to use an exchange like Binance & buy XRP using Bitcoin or USD.
Once you have finalized the way you want to get XRP, the next thing to figure out is where to store them.
Here are exchanges from where you can get XRP:
XRP Wallets: Best Wallet For Ripple Cryptocurrency
Before I share about top wallets for XRP, you need to know one important thing:
Unlike Bitcoin wallets which are free, Ripple wallets require you to have 20XRP to book your wallet address.
So if you add 1000 XRP to your Ripple wallet, 20XRP will be used to book the wallet address. This is one reason you don’t want to use multiple wallets for XRP (unless required).
Pick the right wallet from day one so that you don’t end up losing 20XRP on various wallet addresses.
Do remember, there are various kinds of cryptocurrency wallets & you can Best Bitcoin Wallets.

Ledger Nano S is a hardware wallet that has recently added support for XRP.
Being a hardware wallet, it is one of the best ways to store your cryptocurrency as it offers great security, ease of use, and you can carry it with you anywhere.
I recommend Ledger Nano S as it supports many popular cryptocurrencies including:
Dash, BTC, ETH/ETC, Stratis, Zcash, and now it supports XRP.
You should order it from the official site here & it will take 4-7 days to have it delivered to your doorstep. Here is a video demo of Ledger Ripple wallet:

Toast Wallet is a free open-source XRP wallet which anyone can use.
The creators of this wallet say “simple enough for your grandma but safe enough for a Swiss banker”.
The good thing about this wallet is that it is a non-hosted wallet where you are always in control of your private keys.
As of now, Toast wallet is available on Android, iOS, Windows & Mac.

Guarda is a popular non-hosted Ripple wallet that you can use. The wallet has been around for a while and you can download it for all major platform including Windows, Linux, and Mac.
It is a lightweight and secure wallet where you control the key. Getting started is easy and you are the complete owner of the wallet.
Exarpy

Exarpy is another non-hosted Ripple wallet that is accessible from any web browser.
Using this wallet you can store/receive/send any amount of Ripple without any third-party involvement.
But this wallet is paid wallet and charges 0.025 XRP per transaction and this includes the Ripple network’s fee too.

Gate.io is not a typical XRP wallet but it’s a full-fledged exchange. They offer a mobile app that makes it easier for us to send/receive and also trade XRP coins from the mobile phone. They are one of the few high-quality exchanges that are currently accepting new registrations.

Binance is a fast-growing exchange that started in the mid of the 2017 year and is rapidly adopting many new cryptocurrencies for its users. If you want to get XRP right now, you can use Binance to get an XRP wallet.
However, you should not store your XRP for more than 1-2 days on an exchange (any exchange) as exchanges can shut down or go into issues at any time and put you at risk of losing your stored coins.

When I needed to get ahold of XRP urgently, I used Binance to convert my bitcoins into XRP & stored them in my Binance wallet.
Another good thing while buying and storing your XRP from Binance is that you can claim your 50% discount on the trading fee when you exchange BTC or ETH to XRP.
You can, later on, transfer these XRP to the Ledger Nano S (or any other hardware wallet that supports XRP).
With time, I expect more popular wallets to integrate XRP & make it easier for us to store Ripple.
However, for now, these are the top Ripple wallets that you can start using right away.
If you are someone who is investing in cryptocurrencies, I would recommend you to just order Ledger Nano S hardware wallet which ensures that you remain in total control of all of your coins.
Note: Binance & Gate both are exchanges that buy/sell XRP and have their inbuilt exchange wallet too. We don’t recommend you to hold your XRP in these inbuilt wallets for more than 1-2 days assuming you are lucky enough on those days. So use these exchanges as wallets for a long term at your own risk. Also, Toast Wallet and Exarpy wallets for Ripple are suggested by our community members and we have not used both of them yet but they look legit enough after a litmus test.

Hi, Awesome article. I have a question; which of these wallets is the easier, when it comes to identity verification and such?
@Sam86
Ledger Nano S is the best.
Great article! Quick question. If I try to deposit, for the very first time, only 1 ripple into a new Ledger Nano S wallet from Poloniex, and it gives me a transfer error, is this because I didn’t transfer the requisite 20 initial Ripple? Thanks for your time.
Hi, Harsh,
I recently purchased Ripple via changelly but I had not set up a wallet. The transaction had gone through but I don’t where my purchase is. Can you help?
It should be on your XRP public address that you must have entered while purchasing.
Hi man! Sorry off the topic. Any thoughts about verge and tron? Are they worth it for a try?
Can’t say. They already had enough rally!
hi, mr.Harsh how can I buy directly xrp without buying Bitcoin, can they buy directly from Kosovo
@Sabba
Depending upon your geo-location you can find exchanges that sell directly and allows people from your country.
If this option is not available, then you should buy Bitcoins and convert it into Ripple.
Here are best options to convert Bitcoins into Ripple
Binance
Bitfinex
CHangelly
Nice and useful article but i have two questions..
1. In order to buy XRP or any other cryptocurrency using my bank account in € i have to make a transfer to an account or something that? And to which one?
2. At the time i want to “liquidate” my XRP’s and take back the value in € in case of profit, how do my € transfer to my bank account? Is there any other way to take them?
Greetings from Greece,
George
1. You need to make an account on some exchange such as Kraken, Poloniex, Bitrex or other. You transfer your funds form your bank account to the exchange via SEPA and buy the amount of XRP (ripple) you want. Then you just transfer it to your HW wallet, if have any.
2. Same but reversed. You sell desired amount of XRP, receive € or $ and just transfer it to your bank account via SEPA. Easy as that.
Hello,
Is it possible to create and manage brain-wallet (similar to the one created with http://www.bitaddress.org for BTC) ? In other words : in addition to the public key, I want also to manage and store my private key.
Hi Harsh,
Great Article!
You can also add “Coinpayments” in the list. Coinpayments accepts over 65 altcoins and Ripple (XRP) can also be stored. Adding Coinpayments in the list will be great Addition.

Dipen Sajnani
A very good blog on Ripple & other cryptocurrency wallets.
Do I need to do KYC on gatehub before I can use it to receive XRP or send XRP?
Facing issue: EUR Gateway is pending. You will be able to deposit once they approve you. How to get approved with Gatehub?
I have a ripple address and the private key to the address. How can I get the XRP inside back?
Hi Harsh
Please let me know how to by Ripple against INR
And suggest which wallet is best to use for Crypto Currency like Ripple, Ether, Monero etc
@Dev
For Ripple & Ether you should use Ledger Nano S.
Nice article!
Is it possible to buy Ripple direct from my bank account in euro instead of buying Bitcoins & exchange for Ripple?
Yes. You can use Litebit.eu or Kraken.
is there a wallet which i can store on my computer like most other coins
If I buy XRP on GateHub, can I then transfer it to Ledger Nano S once I receive it in the mail?
Yes
Hi I was wondering when you save the ripples in your Ledger Nano S hardware wallet, how can you sell them later?
@Amin
You need to transfer it to an exchange & sell it from there.
Is there a wallet I can download on an iPhone that supports XRP
Yes, there is. You can try this one and share your experience https://toastwallet.com/.
Recommend you not to store large amounts as this wallet has released this August and is pretty new. Moreover, to get approval from Apple is a rigorous process so expect something useful.
And definitely, there is no match of Ledger Nano S
what happen if Ledger Nano S somehow get damaged or burnt or lost? Do I loose everything
@Naorem
As long as you have the recovery sheet with you, you won’t lose anything.
Do read this: https://coinsutra.com/keep-recovery-seed-safe-secure/
ripple freewallet I can not see but what can I do?
Is it only for riplle coin ?? i wonder, can i buy coins from the wallet or i have to do it from the browser ?!?
@Nikolay
As mentioned in the article.
Changelly allows you to Buy Ripple.
Coinpayments, Gatehub, and Poloniex allow you to buy as well as store Ripple in their inbuilt wallet.
Ledger Nano S is the best wallet to store Ripple but you can’t buy Ripple from Ledger.
So best is to buy from any source and store it in Ledger Wallet as it allows you to control your private keys.
If I buy xrp from bitstamp, can i transfer and store them into the ledger nano s?
Yes you can
Hello! Harsh
I tried to buy XRP from exchanger and want to deposit into Poloniex.
Can you tell me what is “has Tag” or “Destination Tag” to be asked at that time?
Please reply!
@Binod,
Are you asking about Destination address? or something else.
Can I convert my XRP back to fiat currency(USD)?
Travis
Yes you can. Use Bitfinex
Good site.
I have a question: I’m new on this and I open an account with Kraken to buy Ripple with Euro. If I need to sell the Ripple I have can I transfer Euro to my bank?
Thanks
@Orlando
If they support your country then you can. So check here.
Hello, Thank you for this great article!
I have one question, I would like to buy a Ledger Nano S, while it is pretty clear I can transfer my XRPs from an exchange to the Ledger Nano S, I couldn’t find any information on how to transfer those XRPs from the device back to an exchange in order to cash out and get EUR or USD back in my bank account. I am considering Ripple for a long term investment so I need to be sure that in the future I will be able to transfer my XRPs back to an exchange and then get Euros out of them
Thanks again
@Dean
Cash out your XRP for EUR at these exchanges:-
Kraken
Bitstamp
Gatehub
Thank you very much!
I have a Ledger Nano S but did not feel comfortable using it. I am ready to use now. Question: can I just transfer my XRP to Ledger with no fees since I own my Leger? I currently have my XRP in Bittrex.
jim
@Jim
You will be required to pay that. It is a minimum reserve that is required to activate your XRP address so you can’t opt out of it.
Hi. Is it possible to get one wallet, then to replace this wallet that already contains different variety coins with another wallet. Let’s say, for XRP, I purchased a Ledger Nano S to become my wallet of choice, but as I wait for it, I used GateHub or Poloniex, for now. Would it then be possible for me to transfer my coins from Gatehub or Poloniex or from Kraken to my Ledger Nano S? Then after a long while, when I already have a bunch of XRPs, would it be convenient to convert my coins to cash? I actually would like to use the exchange Ginelly.
@Robert
You can change your wallets seamlessly from one to another as there is no restriction as such.
And according to your given scenario, you can transfer your XRP from exchange to Ledger and then back to exchange and cash out in fiat at any time in future.
Is coinpayments a wallet with Private keys? Don’t see the info on the wallet on my android device…maybe they have the keys on desktop / web interface. Will check and update… Surely a good free wallet option to keep Ripple… Definitely worth investing long term for now…
Checked, the website interface has the private key there.
***IMPORTANT INFO***
THE BTC/XRP rate on coinpayments is not good. Alternative would be to to send BTC to Bittrex, buy XRP from Bittrex and then send XRP with the tag to Coinpayments. Use it only to store not to convert.. It’s a INR 900/$15 lesson learnt for me. 😉
I would prefer to use Gatehub or Coinpayments rather than Ledger, at least for right now. I have already purchased XRP today and I quickly need a wallet to store it. I do not need to buy more XRP for now. Would either of these two, or Rippex or Toast be suitable for me to deposit my XRP directly ? Thanks.
You can use them.
Also, understand the risk of using hot wallets and go ahead if you are OK with those.
Any thoughts on using Ripple’s own wallet (wallet-ripple.com)?
Not reviewed it yet.
@RBD, stay away from the SCAMMERS “WALLET-RIPPLE.COM” . I lost my 321 XRP ,then only i understood they are big scammers. Lesson learned : do check the reviews on internet about your wallet,before you start use any.
Indeed you need to check that and that’s what we do here at CS. But sad to know about your loss.
Hi Guys
I am Ahmadderar From RippleCoinNews.com
Be ware guys from this wallet (wallet-ripple.com) it’s scam wallet,

Hi, Very informative article.
What is the best approach to save on exchange fee and commission charges.
I have Gatehub and PLus500 account in GBP, so i intend to buy USD first and then XRP. Needless to say that i’ll lose some money in currency conversion and then in commission, and then again when sending XRP from my gatehub wallet.
Thanks,
UT
This writeup on XRP is quite helpful and simple to understand, as I’m just starting to invest in crypt currencies. I hope to get more information from this site.
Thanks
