Best Indian Websites to Sell Bitcoins: Convert BTC to INR
1. Wazirx
Wazirx is the most popular crypto exchange in India which joined the party only in 2018.
It is founded by an experienced team that is continually innovating with a mission to involve every Indian in the blockchain revolution. They enable users to quickly sell their Bitcoin in India, and you can withdraw funds directly to your bank account.
Here is how you can sell Bitcoin in India using Wazirx:
- Create an account on Wazirx
- Login to their web app or download mobile app
- Deposit Bitcoin
- Sell it for INR (See the screenshot)
Once you have sold your Bitcoin, click on funds and click on INR
Here click on Withdraw and on the next screen, you get the option to withdraw funds instantly or standard withdrawal. Instant withdrawal cost a small fee of INR 10, and max 2 lakhs per transaction.
Since Wazirx, is a trusted platform for selling Bitcoin, I usually use “Standard withdrawal” which is free of fees, and received funds in my bank account within time. Check out WazirX review to learn everything about this popular platform.
This section shows how to sell Bitcoin on Wazirx and how to withdraw funds:
In the present situation, they have come up with a new way of peer to peer trading that enables Indians to withdraw and deposit INR while trading cryptocurrencies.
Here is a sneak peek into their methods:
For example, if you want to sell your BTC worth $5000 which is equivalent to approximately ₹3.4 Lakhs INR, here’s what to do (Source):
- Sell your crypto (BTC in this case) for 5000 USDT. Your trades will execute instantly because our USDT market has great liquidity! Now since USDT is a stable coin, its value will not fluctuate like volatile cryptos.
- Put your 5000 USDT for sale on WazirX P2P.
- When someone comes to buy 5000 USDT on WazirX P2P, they will transfer ₹3.4 Lakhs to your bank account. 💰
This is also useful for the new and experienced trader who is trading on international crypto exchanges and need to take profit. You can simply transfer USDT to Wazirx and convert it into INR using the P2P method.
Note: Wazirx escrows the funds, and provides appropriate dispute resolution wherever required. Right now it supports P2P exchange of USDT in INR. And when you have got USDT you can trade on Wazirx for 10+ cryptocurrencies that are available in USDT pairs.
2. Bitbns
Founded by IIT graduates, also crypto enthusiasts, Bitbns is an Indian crypto exchange that started operations in December 2017.
The Bitbns team focuses on ease of use, security, and customer support right from the beginning.
Bitbns has also pioneered the innovative P2P model for exchanging cryptocurrencies and INR despite difficult times in the Indian crypto scene. Read Bitbns review to learn more.
You can easily liquidate your BTC here by following their P2P model.
Here is a sneak peek into their model:
- Deposit money (INR) in Bitbns.
- Withdraw money (INR) from Bitbns.
3. P2P sell BTC to INR: Paxful
This is one of the most popular ways to sell Bitcoins in India. Rather than selling it on an exchange where the money will come to your bank account, rather sell it to someone in person.
Since Bitcoin is people’s money, you can help someone understand how it works and help them get started. However, don’t make a classic mistake of promising high returns, and do let others know about the risk associated with it.
If you have the bandwidth and time to do this, you can sell Bitcoins for cash and at the same time help others learn about this disrupting alternate financial method.

I have one confusion about bitcoin that , if we buy bitcoin from one website then can we sell that bitcoin to another website which gives higher price ?
@Jaydeep
Yes, you can do that!
Hello Harsh,
I recently came across a situation in Unocoin wallet, where my bitcoin purchase was reversed by them, stating that it was a server error. I purchased X number of BTC from them which got credited in my account right away, and within few hours they removed the BTCs from my wallet and cancelled the invoice. I now SERIOUSLY DOUBT their authenticity, since I know the fact that a bitcoin transaction cannot be reversed.
What are your thoughts ?
You are right on the part of Bitcoin transactions are irreversible. However, in this case, you are dealing with an exchange & they have control over your wallet. So they can do that. From now on, whenever you purchase bitcoins, transfer it to your own wallet like MyCelium or better buy a hardware wallet like Ledger Nano S (This is what I use & recommend)
Is it true that most, if not all Bitcoin exchanges in India require you to be an Indian citizen in order to join their exchange and to buy and sell with them? Thank you
@Kite
Most of them. I believe few of them like WazirX now accepts users from outside India. Do try & let me know your experience.
Hello, thanks for the article. I wanted to know how to buy bitcoins in dollars for a resident indian, what requirements will be needed to be fullfilled. Like what kind of bank account, how to transfer funds, where to purchase the bitcoins, how much time does this process takes(sending dollars and buying bitcoins) and how much time it takes to get those bitcoins to our indian exchange. and finally how to do it legally?
thanks in advance
It is very informative article but biginners, please say about buying from one site and selling on other eg: Sell bits bought at unocoin, at zebpay
@Satheesh
You can do that but the problem is price fluctuates a lot. Even if you see an opportunity, the time Bitcoin transfer would take might take the opportunity away.
buying bitcoin from some foreign sites and selling that in India – what kind of tax will it attract.
can a trader be harassed by levying different kind of taxes later on.
please advise.
How can I use Bitcoin to Remit money to India. Possibly in my NRE account
For arbitrage in bitcoin is it necessary to open the account in each exchange offering best/lowest rates
Yeah, you may do so because some exchanges take time for approvals and arbitrage opportunity might slip by then.
Hello Harsh,
I see that there is a huge difference in BUY and SELL between Zebpay and Coinsecure. I am thinking to arbitrage i.e. but in Zebpay and sell on Coinsecure since coinsecure keeps very less difference (approx 1000-2000 Rs) between buy and sell where as Zebpay maintain difference of Rs 8000-11000 between but and sell. What do you suggest on this?
Regards,
Niket Agrawal
No perfect answer for this as arbitrage opportunities are getting less feasible and to do it right you need to do it at the right time.
And apart from this, you need to time the market and keep an eye on numerous exchanges all at once. Also, the time it takes to transfer BTC to an exchange can take long enough and result into lost arbitrage opportunity.
I am
Also concerned about the fema rules
Hi Harsh & Sudhir
If Indian exchanges are banned how do we cash out to the bank? Do foreign exchanges like Bittrex supports Indian banks?
